🛫 How to Get to Surge Surf Villas
To get to our Sumatra surf resort, you’ll first need to fly into Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. Major flight hubs with routes to Medan include:
- Bali (Denpasar)
- Jakarta
- Kuala Lumpur
- Singapore
- Bangkok
From Medan, take a domestic flight with Wings Air (a Lion Air partner) to Simeulue Island. We recommend checking the Lion Air website for the most current schedules.
👉 Note: You may need a stopover in one of the connecting cities depending on flight availability, so plan accordingly.
🕌 Local Culture & Dress Guidelines
Simeulue is part of Aceh Province, which is a culturally conservative and religious area. While you’ll have full freedom within our surf resort, we ask that guests respect local customs when venturing outside.
- 👕 Shirts and singlets should be worn in public
- 👙 Bikinis and boardshorts are fine within the resort and while surfing
- 🚺 Girls can wear shorts and a top when traveling to and from surf spots

🍻 Alcohol Etiquette
If you’re buying drinks at our bar, please enjoy them inside the resort or on private property. Public drinking is discouraged in the area due to cultural norms, so keep the party laid-back and local!
💵 Money Matters
We highly recommend withdrawing cash at the Medan airport before your domestic flight. Here’s why:

- ❌ Many machines don’t accept foreign cards
- 💱 No currency exchange is available on the island
